After breakfast, Depart for full day tour to Santorini. The sun-drenched island of Santorini sits at the southern tip of the Cyclades and is one of the most breathtaking locations of Greece. This volcanic island of unusual rock formation and high cliffs jutting into the sea is the result of a massive volcanic eruption around 3,500 years ago that blew out the center of Santorini. The surrounding islands are the remains of the sides of the crater, and the sea has filled in the gaps, forming a beautiful bay and some of the most spectacular views. Our tour begins with a scenic drive through the plains of Santorini to the picturesque. We continue our tour with a visit to Akrotiri. Akrotiri excavations starting in 1967 at the site called Akrotiri ("Upper Thira") have made Thera the best-known "Minoan" site outside of Crete, the homeland of the culture. Only the southern tip of a large town has been uncovered, yet it has revealed complexes of multi-level buildings, streets and squares, with remains of walls standing as high as 8 meters, all entombed in the solidified ash of the famous eruption of Thera. This Bronze Age civilization thrived between 3000 to 2000 BC, and reached its peak in the period 2000 to 1580 BC. Continue to Perivolos beach, free time for lunch or swim (lunch is not included), Megalochori, 30min stop to explore the village, ProphetIlias Monastery, 20min stop for photos, Santo wines, including the entrance and the tasting of 3 local wines . Our final stop is village of Oia, the crowning glory of tranquility, boasting the most superb views of the caldera. Take time to stroll around the narrow streets, admire the beautiful, old houses and explore its quaint boutiques of local ceramic art, paintings and semi-precious jewellery.
